Their visa photos

A lot of this adoption process can be a bit........well...
boring.

Answering questions on government forms like,
Are you "An alien who seeks to enter the United States to engage in espionage*, sabotage, export control violations, terr**orist activities, the overthrow of the United States government* or other unlawful activity, who is a member or affiliated with the Communis*t or other totalitarian party; who participated, engaged, or ordered genoc*de, tortu*re, extrajudicial killings, or who is a member or representative of a terros*ist organization as currently designated by the U.S. Secretary of State."

Please check yes or no.
Yeah. Good times.

And then their are the really fun moments like when you have to take one of their photos and get them printed on photo paper measuring 2X2 for their visa applications.

Let's just all stop and have a collective, "Awwww so cute!" moment shall we?

Awwww, so cute!
Cost for this specific step of the process?
57cents.
Thank you Costco.

  1. wait-- YOU have t submit their visa photos?? we never did that for our kiddos..
so you just got LSC (we call it LOA) so you're about 2 months from travel?? early december?? guangzhou is AWESOME that time of year-- all Christmasy and it's in the 60's and 70's-- you can be outside all the time!

i heartily rec. staying at the victory since it will be too cold for swimming-- here's why:
you can get a 2 room suite, free internet for MUCH CHEAPER THAN WHITE SWAN!!!!! not sure which hotel your agency uses- ours uses the White swan- but you can choose where you stay if you're on shaiman island. food for thought:) can't wait to follow your trip!

  6. Adorable!!! We stayed at WS 1st trip, Garden Hotel last trip and loved it and probably only me in GZ so I will stay at Victory for Gracie. No LOA this week so most likely no Dec travel for us. :-(

  7. Thanks everyone! Weird that we had to get these photos done, I even just double checked the directions and yep, I was supposed to take one photo of them and get it sized down to 2X2 on white photo paper. Odd that that is not an across the board thing! Anyhoo, also THANK YOU for the hotel recommendations, I think a post about where to stay is in order! We are thinking the Victory, but I'd love the input!

  8. Ohhh, so sweet and beautiful. We did have to do that for Ivy, but we used the actual passport photo they sent us with the medical paperwork? Apparently, you cannot have any hands or extra things in the picture and it has to be on a solid background. But, we did have to have a current one taken once we were in GUZ.

We also stayed at the Victory for the 2 weeks we were there. Much cheaper than WS since that was a concern of ours. Plus, we had the benefit and the convenience of being on the island as we loved walking around after dinner and enjoying the locals. It also helped walking off those calories from eating so much delicious food! Mainly the Shanghai-style Restaurant near the clinic. Sometimes we ate there twice a day!

  9. OK I'll do the awwww....with you too. But I'm also saying...."WHAT?" We never had to do that. Since when? New step? I guess I'll find out soon enough, huh?

  10. Oh and now that I've read the other comments and yours about the hotel....we stayed at the WS the first time around too, but are planning on staying at the Victory...our agency said either one. WS beds are CONCRETE and I am NOT joking. AWFUL!! We stayed in 3 different hotels for Kaylin's adoption trip and the WS was the WORST! I've heard the Victory's beds are much better and as everyone else has mentioned a MUCH bigger room and less expensive meals there too! I think the buffet at supper at the WS is like $40 a person...we'd NEVER spend that here, so why there? Anyway, just more info. :)
